Genelia said that except in few films, she is not donning stereotyped roles. While speaking to the media, she said,"When a film is being remade from Telugu to Tamil, I will have to do the same kind of role which I did in the original. That is inevitable. Because of this I cannot agree that I am doing stereotyped roles in all my films. Now the film Urumi in which I had acted in Malayalam has been released.

Every body is appreciating me for my action. I learnt the martial art Kalari to act in this film. It was very stunning when I saw my acting on the screen. Now I am pairing with Vijay in Velayudham. I am donning a serious role in this film."
